Cool, new products are afoot at Panavision. They held the first Panafest at their Woodland Hills location to show off and reacquaint the production community to the services available. Here’s a very brief sample of what was shown. If you visit their website, you can watch a webcast outlining all the new products.

Most likely, as part of the marriage with Plus 8 Digital, Panavision is offering and equipping 2/3″ video with Panavision accessories. Here you see a Sony F23 but they also had a Panasonic 3000 camera equipped.
: : New Millennium (right image)
New film camera. A new Millennium is available, the XL2. It is small! Now available with frame rates of 3-50 frames and a new video assist offering a sharper and more sensitive sensor. Also notice the new battery mount, the XLOB. It also has the new PCZ, T2.8, 19-90mm (4.5 to 1) spherical zoom.

: : New Anamorphic Lenses (left image)
Ta-da. New G-series anamorphic lenses. Short, light wight and with a front anamorphic element. Nice.
Six primes and two zooms are available:
35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, 75mm, & 100mm – T2.6 – CF: 3′
AWZ2 40-80mm (2:1) (the John Bailey lens) – T2.8 – CF 3 1/4′
ATZ 70-200mm (3:1) T3.5 – CF 5 1/2′
: : New Genesis Tapeless Drive (right image)
Ah, the Genesis, here shown with the new SSR1 tapeless recorder – 4:4:4 (21 min. at 24 fps) or 4:2:2 (43 min. at 24 fps), uncompressed.

2-Perf is also available in a updated Platinum. Personally, I’m hoping to shoot with one of these cameras early next year on a feature. More to come.
