"Dead Air" – construction begins

Set construction can be a wonderful thing to watch.  The transformation from a set that you’ve spend a long time in into a place completely different in a matter of days.  With our short prep on this movie, set construction is in overdrive to finish on time.  Here are some picture of the progress.

So what’s the lighting strategy for this film.  Make it look real.  To that end we’re having a drop ceiling put in.  Since we have several lighting gags in the film, we’re not using fluorescence fixtures instead we’re using tungsten units shooting straight down into the a 2′x4′ fluorescent diffuser with a grid focuser the type you’d see in any office.  The possible addition will be a sheet of opal on top of the diffuser.  All these lights tied into a dimmer.

: : Where it all began.  Here’s a sketch of the set Corbin drew during our a preproduction meeting.  This became what you see above.  Sweet.
