Look what turned up in today’s Daily Variety. The funny thing is that the print article appears next to the Obituaries and given the title, well, it all looks a bit funny.

Tonight also was our second pre-production meeting with all the key department heads. A very productive meeting and a chance for everyone to finally see the wonderful sets that have been built. It’s all coming together quite nicely (knock wood). It’s also great to see the gang back together along with a few new faces.

"Dead Air" – construction begins

Set construction can be a wonderful thing to watch.  The transformation from a set that you’ve spend a long time in into a place completely different in a matter of days.  With our short prep on this movie, set construction is in overdrive to finish on time.  Here are some picture of the progress.

More work has been done since this picture – the carpet and the drop ceiling is in.

So what’s the lighting strategy for this film.  Make it look real.  To that end we’re having a drop ceiling put in.  Since we have several lighting gags in the film, we’re not using fluorescence fixtures instead we’re using tungsten units shooting straight down into the a 2′x4′ fluorescent diffuser with a grid focuser the type you’d see in any office.  The possible addition will be a sheet of opal on top of the diffuser.  All these lights tied into a dimmer.

Out of the frying pay and into the fire?  Maybe, maybe not.  I got word that the next film is on and we’re starting on the 24th of this month.  That’s two weeks of prep.  No problem!  Let the fun begin!!

"Night Light" – It is finished…

e. gustavo | narrative | Thursday, March 8th, 2007

At long last, the short film I shot last year is finally finished and I have to say, it’s a fantastic short film. It’s one of the director’s (Mark Mullenkamp) best work. It sounds great, looks great, and it’s wonderfully edited. I can’t wait to post a QT version. More when it becomes available.

"Donna on Demand" – the get together

e. gustavo | other | Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

What a party!  My wife and I hosted a “little” get together at our home for the cast and crew of the show.  I glad so many folks came out.  It was great seeing everyone one more time before the next show begins.  Thanks everyone for making the evening so fun.
